Babbitt
Originally published in 1922, this classic satire about real estate agent George F. Babbitt, played by Edward Asner, brilliantly captures the vacuity and conformity of the middle-class in small town, white-collar America. Babbitt was written during one of the first major American economic booms. Not surprisingly, its razor-sharp, unsparing - and highly entertaining - dissection of the financial and social culture continues to resonate today.
Recorded at KCRW Studios, Santa Monica in November 1987.
